Merchant Data Analytics Support
About the Role
TEF Consult is seeking a highly analytical and results-driven Merchant Data Analytic Support professional to support merchant performance management, business intelligence, reporting, and data-driven decision-making.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and analysing merchant data, monitoring business performance, identifying revenue opportunities, and providing actionable insights to relevant stakeholders. The position requires strong capabilities in SQL scripting, data mining, data analysis, reporting, dashboard preparation, Microsoft Excel, and business performance monitoring.
The role will also support merchant-related projects, process improvements, workflow automation, maintenance of merchant master data, and preparation of periodic performance reports.
Key Responsibilities
1. Merchant Data Analysis & Revenue Performance
- Analyse merchant performance data to identify trends, gaps, and potential revenue opportunities.
- Monitor merchant performance against established business objectives.
- Translate merchant data into actionable insights that can support business growth initiatives.
- Support teams in identifying opportunities that can contribute toward the achievement of revenue targets.
2. Business Performance Monitoring
- Monitor merchant business performance using available data and reporting tools.
- Analyse business information through data mining and other analytical techniques.
- Provide relevant stakeholders with timely information on merchant performance.
- Support data-driven decision-making by ensuring business reports are accurate and useful.
The original JD specifically identifies SQL scripting, data mining, analysis, and report publication as important parts of the role.
3. Reporting & Dashboards
- Prepare merchant performance reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
- Validate reports before distribution to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards for relevant stakeholders.
- Present business performance information in a clear and understandable format.
- Ensure reports are distributed to relevant stakeholders within the required timelines.
4. SQL & Data Mining
- Use SQL to generate, extract, and analyse business data.
- Understand and apply established business logic when generating reports.
- Follow appropriate SQL guidelines and procedures to ensure accurate data generation and mining.
- Support analytical requirements by extracting relevant information from available datasets.
5. Merchant Master Data & Performance Trackers
- Maintain and regularly update merchant master data.
- Manage merchant performance trackers and portfolio files.
- Maintain segmentation lists across the relevant merchant categories.
- Ensure merchant information used for analysis and reporting remains properly maintained and up to date.
6. Project & Process Management
- Support merchant-related projects through data analysis and performance tracking.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Support workflow automation initiatives.
- Track the progress of relevant merchant projects and activities.
- Use analytical insights to support improvements in business processes.
7. Additional Responsibilities
- Provide analytics and reporting support as required.
- Support other merchant-related activities assigned by the relevant manager.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, integrity, and professionalism when handling business data.
Qualifications & Technical Requirements
Candidates should possess:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, or Telecommunications Engineering.
- Certification in SQL Language.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good business awareness.
Experience Requirements
Candidates should have a minimum of 2+ years of professional commercial experience.
Relevant experience should preferably include exposure to:

The candidate should also be comfortable working within a performance-driven organization.
