Reinsurance Officer
About the Role
The Reinsurance Officer will be responsible for managing facultative reinsurance placements, administering inward and outward reinsurance business, maintaining accurate reinsurance documentation, and providing technical reinsurance expertise to support sound underwriting decisions and effective risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange and secure facultative reinsurance coverage for risks exceeding retention limits or falling outside treaty arrangements.
- Manage and administer inward reinsurance business to ensure profitability, compliance, and accurate record keeping.
- Maintain accurate reinsurance records, contracts, treaties, and related documentation.
- Provide technical reinsurance guidance to underwriters on risk assessment, retention levels, and reinsurance solutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with reinsurers, brokers, cedants, and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct monthly reconciliation with FAC partners.
- Prepare and analyse reinsurance reports covering portfolio performance, exposure, and recoveries.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Insurance or a related field.
- Professional certification such as Cert CII, Diploma CII or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Understanding of reinsurance operations, preferably in facultative reinsurance and underwriting support.
- Basic to intermediate understanding of reinsurance principles and structures.
- Strong knowledge of facultative and treaty reinsurance.
- Ability to interpret reinsurance agreements, slips, and contracts.
- Strong technical risk assessment and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and documentation management skills.
