In-Market InSight Engineer
About the Role
The In-Market InSight Engineer will be responsible for the configuration and support of the Insight platform to enable M-Pesa’s supported products, projects, and services within the assigned market.
The role will require collaboration with Insight engineers, vendors, and local teams to implement best practices, deploy new features, and provide technical expertise to ensure the seamless delivery of M-Pesa’s mobile payment systems.
Upon hiring, candidates will receive comprehensive training on the platform.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver end-to-end M-Pesa products and services within the assigned market.
Configure the Insight platform to support deployments.
Establish and maintain strong relationships with Insight engineers and vendors.
Support key market deployments by providing technical configuration expertise.
Identify local project issues, risks, and dependencies with market teams.
Implement and maintain productive governance structures for assigned services.
Qualifications & Requirements
Essential
System / API Integration experience (Apigee, Tibco, MuleSoft ESB, SSL Certificates or similar).
Knowledge of data structures (XML, JSON, objects, arrays).
Linux/Unix command-line experience (system administration or networking is an advantage).
SQL & relational database knowledge (Oracle, PostgreSQL).
Experience with MongoDB & Cassandra (NoSQL and distributed storage).
Knowledge of proxying & load balancing (NGINX, HA Proxy, Squid, AWS ELB, or F5 NLB).
Experience with containerization & orchestration (Docker, Swarm, Kubernetes).
Desirable
Experience in mobile payments or financial services.
ITIL Service Operations qualification.
ICA Certificate in Anti-Money Laundering Awareness.
Experience in regulated industries.
Project/Programme Management qualification (MSP).
Degree qualification (preferably STEM).
Performance Metrics (KPIs)
Effective project leadership and decision-making capacity.
Ability to operate in a multinational environment with strong communication skills.
Time-to-market for M-Pesa products and services.
Consistent delivery speed, efficiency, and simplicity.
High integrity and cross-cultural collaboration.
