Merchant Sales Supervisor

About the Role

The Merchant Sales Supervisor will be responsible for driving the acquisition and retention of high-value formal merchants and enterprise clients within the assigned region. The role focuses on effective portfolio management, strengthening merchant relationships, enhancing brand visibility, and providing operational oversight to support merchant business growth.

The successful candidate will play a key role in executing sales strategies, managing merchant portfolios, and ensuring long-term sustainability of merchant partnerships through excellent service delivery and performance monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

1. Acquisition and Retention of Formal Merchants and Enterprises

  • Maintain an updated and well-structured pipeline of prospective formal merchants and enterprise clients within the assigned region.

  • Proactively engage with potential merchants to present business solutions and onboard new partners.

  • Implement and execute sales strategies to achieve set acquisition targets for formal merchants and enterprises.

  • Develop and implement retention strategies to maintain strong relationships with existing merchants.

  • Ensure consistent transaction growth through continuous merchant engagement and support.

2. Relationship Management and Portfolio Performance
  • Monitor merchant portfolio performance and analyze transaction trends to identify growth opportunities.

  • Provide operational and business support to merchants to enhance business performance.

  • Resolve escalated merchant issues in a timely and professional manner.

  • Ensure high service standards to maintain long-term business partnerships.

3. Branding and Visibility

  • Coordinate regional branding initiatives to increase merchant and enterprise visibility.

  • Align local marketing and promotional activities with overall organizational objectives.

  • Support the implementation of marketing campaigns that enhance brand recognition and merchant engagement.

4. Business Oversight and Governance
  • Act as the primary escalation point for merchant and enterprise concerns within the assigned region.

  • Gather and analyze merchant feedback to improve service delivery and customer experience.

  • Work closely with internal teams to ensure seamless business operations and service efficiency.

5. Reporting and Business Insights

  • Consolidate weekly and monthly performance reports from the merchant sales team.

  • Provide actionable insights and strategic recommendations to senior management.

  • Track and report on key performance indicators related to merchant acquisition, retention, and revenue performance.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field.

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in sales leadership or supervisory roles.

  • Proven track record in merchant acquisition and portfolio management.

  • Experience in digital payments, fintech, or mobile money services is highly desirable.

  • Ability to build and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Timely submission of accurate weekly and monthly performance reports.
