Reconciliation Analyst – M-Pesa and Government Integrated Systems

About the Role

The Reconciliation Analyst will be responsible for conducting M-Pesa transaction reconciliation , identifying and resolving discrepancies across internal and external accounts.

In addition, this role involves daily data reviews and reconciliation of transmissions to government systems , ensuring all outputs align with source systems and are resolved efficiently.

This position plays a critical role in maintaining financial integrity and regulatory compliance for clients operating in fintech, telecom, and public sectors.

Key Responsibilities

✅ Data Reconciliation

  • Review data transmitted daily to government systems.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between source systems and final outputs.
  • Ensure alignment between internal billing systems and external reporting.

✅ M-Pesa Transactions Management

  • Address discrepancies in M-Pesa transactions for internal and external accounts.
  • Coordinate timely resolutions through communication with third parties and relevant government entities.
  • Maintain accurate records and audit trails.

✅ Reporting & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain data integrity checks and automated reconciliation processes.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliation reports .
  • Monitor system performance and escalate anomalies when necessary.

✅ System Administration

  • Oversee operations, administration, and security of systems within the Intelligence and Data division .
  • Implement Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) for key systems.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

Experience:

Minimum 2 years of experience in the IT field , preferably in data reconciliation or BI

Familiarity with mobile money platforms , especially M-Pesa , is an added advantage

Technical Skills:

SQL : Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries

Data Management : Experience working with large datasets in MIS systems

API/ETL Integration : Ability to integrate data sources via API or ETL tools

BI Tools : Strong knowledge of Power BI or similar platforms

MS Office Suite : Advanced Excel skills, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint

  • Improved efficiency in discrepancy identification and resolution
